OVERVIEW: The PL-9 is a short-range, supersonic, solid fuel, air-to-air and ground-to-air missile utilizing infrared homing and laser proximity fusing.
DETAILS: The PL-9 can be slaved to a radar system, EO director or the seeker itself can scan for targets. The PL-9 has a cooled infra-red seeker, giving it an all-aspect capability. The seeker also has IRCCM capabilities.
NOTES: IOC 1991. It is utilized by a variety of aircraft and helicopters and ground units.
