OVERVIEW: The AS-6 KINGFISH A (KSR-5P) is a supersonic, long-range, liquid-fuel, rocket propelled, air-to-surface missile. It carried a 930 kg HE warhead.
DETAILS: The AS-6 KINGFISH (KSR-5P) was equipped with a VSP-K anti-radiation seeker. For guidance it uses a preprogrammed autopilot for launch and climb, an inertial guidance system or an autopilot with radio command override for mid-course. It cruised at either high or low altitude. In its low altitude profile, it flew at approximately 50 meters altitude.
NOTES: The AS-6 entered service in 1969. It was used by the Tu-22M and Tu-16 BADGER aircraft. The AS-6 was effectively a scaled down Kh-22 with less range and launch weight, but similar performance and lethality.
