OVERVIEW: The AGM-142B Raptor HAVE NAP, is a solid fuel short-to-medium range, IIR guided, air-to-ground missile
designed for precision attack against large, high-value targets from stand-off ranges.
DETAILS: The AGM-142B Raptor uses a GPS-aided inertial guidance system that pilots the missile towards the target, switching to a imaging infrared (IIR) seeker, enabling either the launching platform or another platform to designate the target in the terminal phase. The AGM-142B can attack its target using either a low level "pop up" or a steep dive from high altitude. The modular warhead section can be fitted with either a HE blast/fragmentation warhead or a high-penetration warhead.
NOTES: The AGM-142B is also known as the "Popeye." Initially developed for the Israel, the AGM-142 entered IAF service in
1985. It entered service with the USAF in 1990. Variants are also used by Turkey, South Korea, India and Austalia. The
seeker head is modular, and can be fitted with either an TV (AGM-142A) or an imaging infrared (IIR) seeker (AGM-142B).
