OVERVIEW: The AGM-88E Advanced Anti-Radiaion Guided Missile (AARGM) is a high speed, solid fuel, medium-range, air-to-ground anti-radiation missile designed to attack enemy radars.
DETAILS: The AGM-88E AARGM is an upgrade to earlier AGM-88B/C/D airframes and warheads by adding a W-band MMW radar, a GPS receiver, and an anti-radiation homing (ARH) seeker. The MMW radar give improved target discrimination during the terminal phase, and in conjunction with the ARH improves the AARGM's ability to resist RF shutdown tactics. It also allows the weapon to be used against a non-emitting target. The GPS allows the AARGM to set impact and avoidance zones, minimizing the risk of collateral damage. The AARGM also used an Integrated Broadcast Service (IBS) system and Weapon Impact Assessment (WIA) subsystem providing battle damage impact assessment immediately prior to impact.
