OVERVIEW: Surface Wave-OTH (SW-OTH) radars is an over the horizon surface and air search radar.
DETAILS: The designation of China's SW-OTH is not known, but reliable reports suggests that there are at least two systems in operation, with one ranged over the Taiwan Straits.
The transmitter is located at 27º 46’ 58.70” North, 120º 45’ 54.41” East, whilst the receiver is approximately 3km southwest at 27º 45’ 26.88” North, 120º 45’ 04.98” East.
NOTES: IOC for the SW-OTH is estimated to be 2003. The absolute range of the SW-OTH is dependent upon atmospheric conditions, system power and the time of day.
